Scope

Tecnologia em Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração [Technology in Metallurgy, Materials and Mining] is a quarterly publication of Associação Brasileira de Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração - ABM [Brazilian Association of Metallurgy, Materials and Mining], directed to the technical-scientific community in these areas.

Its mission, since 2004, is to value academic production, encourage the disclosure of technological innovation in processes and products, disseminate the best practices in technical management and, also, contribute to the spread of scientific and technological knowledge in the Brazilian community in the materials, metallurgical and mining sectors.

TMM accepts Original articles, Review papers and Short Communications in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and its editorial policy prioritizes quality: a rigorous editorial process is used to assess and select contributions to be published. These include peer review both by academic and industrial experts. The Editor-in-chief or the Area Executive Editors defines an Editor to be responsible for the paper, and the indicated editor sends the paper to two ad hoc reviewers. After the review process and approval, the paper is published.

There are no costs to the authors in the submission and publication processes.

Types of contribution

  • Original paper: full unpublished paper describing a research, must not exceed ten (10) pages;
  • Review paper: summary studies on a specific subject by introducing the author’s own opinions concerning recent progress and future prospects to give a balanced assessment. Should not exceed 12 pages. Submission of review articles is possible by Editor’s invitation;
  • Short communications: an article on a new finding or an interesting aspect of an ongoing study that merits prompt preliminary publication in condensed form. Should be no longer than four (4) pages.

Editorial Policy

Authors are sole and fully responsible for the contents of manuscripts published. The authorship should be restricted to the ones that have participated from the paper development process.

The translation into another language for publication elsewhere should be authorized by the Editor-in-Chief; credits must be provided.

Copyright

Submission of a paper to TMM states that it is original, that has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere. Author agrees with the transfer of the copyright to Associação Brasileira de Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração if and when the article is accepted for publication.

All articles will be published under the CC BY-NC-ND license (Creative Commons).

Licença Creative Commons
This paper is available under the license Creative Commons - Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International.

Conflict of Interest

All authors are requested to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationship with other people or organizations within three years of beginning the submitted work that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence the work.

The journal follows the publication ethics of the Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE in all the papers evaluation process. The information is published at the journal’s website at http://tecnologiammm.com.br/site/ethics.

Papers Evaluation

The Editor-in-chief or one of the Area Executive Editors defines who will be responsible for the paper. The indicated editor sends the paper to two ad hoc reviewers that should evaluate it taking into consideration: scope, subject relevance, originality, presentation of results, objectives, conclusion etc. The process is automated confidential - authors do not know who are the reviewers responsible for the evaluation and vice-versa (double-blind system). Authors are required to suggest two potential reviewers for their work, which may be used at the discretion of the Editors. Ensure that the e-mail addresses given for reviewers are correct.

After evaluation the recommendations are: Accept without revision, Accept with revision, Accept with optional revision, or Reject. The Editor is the responsible for the final position. Papers are reevaluated, when necessary, after author’s corrections.

In case of paper rejection, authors will be informed and will be able to resort, by e-mail, of the decision. The recommendations are not disclosed to other journals.

The proofs of the approved papers will be sent to authors for checking, and possible corrections but, at this stage, content corrections and/or langue are not allowed. Proofs with no response from the authors, will have its publication suspended.

Online Submission

The submission to Tecnologia em Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração is online, and must be done through the journal’s website (http://tecnologiammm.com.br) or directly through the link: http://tmm.submitcentral.com.br/login.php.

In Conclusion new hypotheses may be shown when well justified; recommendations may be included. They must be accurate and clear and be based on the study’s objects.

5 Acknowledgments

If needed, indicate the persons who collaborated in carrying out the research or who gave technical help, and the institutions or research agencies that funded the study or allowed the use of institutional infrastructure. They must precede the references.

6 References

They must be numbered, at the end of the article, in the order in which they appear in the text. Use the Vancouver style for indicating references, do not use bold, italic or underline. Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list, and vice-versa.
