Abstract

The search for light materials with thermal insulation has been widely performed by engineers and architects, making it important to develop new technologies, to present to the market a product that meets the structural and economic needs of the civil sector. This study aims the development of a ceramic cell block exhibiting low density, good thermal insulation, possessing the refractory properties of ceramics and high strength. Aeration of the ceramic mass was made by adding aluminum powder and calcium oxide. The studied physical properties were compared with products already used in construction. The density, porosity, high temperature resistance, compressive strength and thermal conductivity were examined. The tests showed excellent results, proving that it is possible to create pores in the red ceramic without adding organic matter and obtained pores with regular format, increases the technical performance of the material.
