Abstract
The main challenges in the development of pipeline steels for sour service pipelines are briefly analyzed in the present work. The main production steps from steelmaking to plate rolling are reviewed and the influence of the chemical composition and processing parameters are correlated with the final mechanical properties and the resistance to hydrogen-induced cracking. Finally, a brief scenario is shown with future trends on the application of pipeline steels for sour service.
